What you Don't Know about Cloud Computing

When deciding to switch your businesses processing system to being cloud based, you would assume that every platform basically works the same way, right? Basically, there’s an invisible cloud somewhere that holds all of your company’s documents, can be accessed from anywhere that has an internet connection, and is backed-up by a large server in some far away city. Well, you have the basic gist of how it works, but in reality, this isn’t the whole truth.

What you don’t know is that there are different types of cloud computing systems. Some more efficient than others, of course. So, how do you decide which system is the best for your company? Well, let's break down two fo the most common types of Cloud Computing; public and private.

The Public Cloud

A public cloud is probably the most traditional representation of cloud computing in the sense of what the general public usually expects cloud computing to be like. Through this structure, the service provider implements one extensive network that several clients operate off of. The clients, or customers, don't usually have anything to differentiate themselves from one another, nor do they have control over the location of the infrastructure rendered to them by the service provider.

The biggest difference between Public and Private Cloud Computing is the level of security administered to clients by the service provider.

The Private Cloud

With the private cloud, which is the type of cloud computing system that Amalto’s e-Business Cloud Solution operates off of, each client has a specified, secure, private network that is guarded by a firewall and the IT department of either the customer or the cloud service provider (depending on who you are receiving the cloud service from). In the case of Amalto Technology subscribers, our Cloud based system is fully managed and also automates the electronic exchange of business documents.

With Amalto, your organization’s documents will not only be easily accessible form any location with wifi, but they are also provided on your own, secure network that is protected by the Amalto e-Business Cloud Solution.
